Applying a country flag sticker to the head of a square top Nacra 17 mainsail. This particular flag took us one hour to apply, which is typical for this job. Tips for installation:
Clear a flat solid surface that is free of debris and contour.
Mark max parameters of where you are allowed to place sticker so you do not exceed these limits. Usually defined within the class rules as a set distance from leech and below lower batten.
Flatten and clean sail.
Position and apply corner of sticker. We like to cut our sticker into quadrants to avoid bubbles. Ensure your class rules allow this before cutting your flag.
Using a foam block, card, or fingers gently apply sticker to sail while teammate slowly draws away backing.
Be cautious of ripping stars out as they may stick to backing more than front film. We advise rubbing and pressing stickers into front film to help them adhere there before removing backing and applying sticker to sail.
Replace any stars that are drawn out by backing.
Peel back front film and gently press sticker into sail using a cloth or towel. Heat from regular use (sailing) will help sticker adhere better to sail. Grapefruit Graphics stickers will shrink somewhat and most smaller bubbles will disappear.
