RC Model Sailboat

Hull Design and Construction

The mold for this model sailboat's hulls was built by a friend from fiberglass and finished with a smooth gellcoat surface. With help and resources from TPI Composites in Warren, RI I developed templates and laminate schedules for the fibers to be used in the hull's construction. The vacuum bag infusion method was chosen as it ensured the filling of all voids in the mold, especially around tight corners at the bow. This project is still incomplete as I am preparing the deck for infusion as well as designing a keel, keel fin, and rudder; however, as this project develops I will post new progress here.
