These are my top choice for catsailing boots. Designed for surfing, they are lightweight, thin, and flexible while still providing great protection. They have good grip on their soles which provides traction even on windy and wavy days. I have worn these both in the hot summer heat of Japan and in the chilly spring of Weymouth and been comfortable at both venues.
One drawback of these boots is their durability as they are susceptible to faster wear when worn on asphalt or concrete, which is quite common in many boat parks. All boots will wear out faster on these surfaces, especially thinner ones like these. Also, the bungee cord around the ankle is helpful for customizing the fit in this area, but also proposes a hazard for anything it might catch onto. After wearing many pairs these boots regularly for the past 2 years I’ve had them catch on a part of the boat once while sailing.
I highly recommend these for any high performance sailor looking for an outer skin over their feet. They come in both full toe and split toe variations. I personally like the full toe version as it gives me more space for my toes.
If you like these boots as much as I do, you can buy them directly from Amazon. They are often on sale, so keep your eyes peeled for special offers and stock up while you can!
